Are you planning to upgrade your iPad? Apple has recently updated its tablets, iPad Air 4 and iPad (8th Gen). Some major upgrades have managed to catch the attention of the tech-savvies lately. The icing on the cake is that both the iPads will receive the latest operating system iPadOS 15.
So, let us dive a little deeper into the configuration of the two tablets.
iPad 8th Gen vs. iPad Air 4 - Should You Upgrade Your iPad?
Design
Both iPads have been upgraded in terms of design. iPad (8th Gen) has similar looks as the previous model with some minor changes but is available in more vibrant colors. It follows the same features as its predecessor like a 10.2-inch retina display, A12 Bionic chip, and an 8-megapixel camera.
On the other hand, iPad Air 4 has received a major upgrade with USB-C replacing the lightning port. It supports Magic Keyboard and 2nd Gen Apple Pencil. Additionally, iPad Air 4 has a magnetic port for the pencil and a rear connector for the magic keyboard.
Processor and Storage
The iPad 8th Gen supports A12 Bionic Processor for faster processing and comes with an in-built eSIM and storage option of 32GB and 128GB. On the contrary, iPad Air 4 is one of Apple's first products to receive the latest A14 Bionic chip manufactured with a 5-nanometer process. It offers a 40% bump in performance and a 30% bump in graphic performance with the help of the latest chip. Storage is also enhanced as compared to iPad 8th Gen, as it comes in 64GB and 256GB.
Camera
The iPad 8th Gen supports the same camera as its predecessor with an 8MP rear lens and a 1.2MP FaceTime HD camera. However, the iPad Air 4 has an updated 12 MP rear camera and a 7MP FaceTime camera. It can record videos in 4K and has features like autofocus, auto image stabilization, Smart HDR, and wide color capture.
Features and Widgets
With iPadOS 15 rolling out soon, these iPads will receive some major feature updates that’ll allow users to operate them smoothly. The widgets can be added anywhere on the home screen and notifications can be optimized with the help of the Focus feature. Moreover, FaceTime groups calls will finally appear in a grid and users will be able to note down anything important with the Quick Note feature with just one slide. The best part about the new OS is that Siri can work offline and also announce notifications on AirPods.
With these features coming up soon, the iPads will be ahead of time. If you have an older iPad and you are still thinking about a feature update, then iPad Air 4 can be an optimum choice. Stay tuned to be the first one to book it at Menakart.
